The Feldenkrais Method® uses simple, gentle movements to help people connect more deeply to themselves and their potential for more joyful living.
I am certified by the Feldenkrais Guild to teach Awareness Through Movement (ATM). I offer this in a group setting, where I guide students through simple movement prompts that can help them improve how they move in their daily life and therefore improve their whole well-being. It's common for people who experience chronic pain or who are nursing an injury to come Feldenkrais class to figure out how to move more easily with their changing body. The method is also a beautiful and generative practice for artists, athletes, and somatic-curious learners.
As a Feldenkrais practitioner, I feel connected in working with:
Dance: performers who want to improve in flexibility, balance, ease, and expressivity.
Voice: singers, actors, and performers who want to get deeper into the embodiment of vocalization as an extension of themselves.
Queer Identity: for those who want a safe place to explore their bodies and movement without the elements of gender and sexuality discrimination
Asian Diasporic Identity: similar to the above, I feel strongly that Asian people need a safe place to be experiencing movement and their bodies without the public pressure placed on Asian people, particularly in America
Please email me at jasonmvu@gmail.com if you'd like to join my group classes. They happen at 7:15pm on Thursdays in Oakland.
